Who Really Owns the PCB Layout? – Part One

When designing a Printed Circuit Board (PCB), both the electrical and mechanical aspects must be considered simultaneously. So who officially owns the PCB layout? Author information Paul Taubman Paul Taubman Paul Taubman received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California in 1995. Prior to his graduation, his engineering career began in Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) design at the Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, CA. His experience includes ASIC design and test at Cadence Design Systems, and system test and integration at Northrop Grumman. After a stint with Altium as an applications engineer, Paul's focus at Nine Dot Connects has been on printed circuit board design processes and component library methodologies. With the rise of mechatronics, he is now focusing on the collaboration between electrical and mechanical fields of engineering.
